COACHING FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

The Association for Coaching defines this practice as a “collaborative, solution-focused, results-oriented, and systematic process in which the coach facilitates the enhancement of work performance, life experience, self-directed learning, and personal growth of the client.”

In other words, a life coach is like a coach in any sport, but instead of helping you become your best version on the court, a life coach helps you navigate the game of life. A good life coach provides the tools and techniques to help you become your best self in all areas of life, personalizing the approach to suit your unique needs and abilities. They can even anticipate obstacles and guide you to find your own solutions over time. Think of a life coach as a personal trainer for your life goals – they tailor a program to fit your abilities and desired outcomes, demonstrate the appropriate exercises, and adjust the plan as you grow and progress.

  • Guide you to discover your own answers.
  • Nurture progress in the key areas of your life.
  • Guide you to identify and clarify your real, deep-down aspirations.
  • Help you uncover root causes and the things you really want and value.
  • Empower you to make effective decisions aligned with your personal goals.
  • Assist you in identifying and understanding certain issues by applying coaching knowledge and skills.
  • Motivate you to find your own strengths and take one step at a time, sometimes during great difficulty, toward your best self.

In simple terms, the game plan is to turn your transition into a unique opportunity for growth and self-development outside of your athletic career. We will follow a flexible structure that combines organization, measurability, and purpose, while it allows us to tailor our services to your unique needs. While there are common patterns behind some of the challenges athletes face during their transition out of sports, every person is different, and therefore needs different types of guidance and support. We will identify what works best for you, and we will develop a plan accordingly.

Here are some key advantages athletes can benefit from by working with a life coach:

  • Smooth transition: Navigating the challenges and uncertainties that come with leaving your sport behind.
  • Discovering purpose: Uncovering your passions, values, and goals beyond sports, helping you find a new sense of purpose and direction in life.
  • Personal growth: Enhance self-awareness, build resilience, develop effective communication skills, and cultivate a growth mindset for continued success.
  • Goal setting and achievement: Designing strategies and accountability to help you achieve the right goals you set for yourself after sports.
  • Emotional well-being: A supportive space for athletes to express their feelings, process their experiences, and develop strategies to maintain mental health.
  • Performance enhancement: Optimize performance by providing mindset techniques, stress management strategies, and personalized plans tailored to your specific sport and goals.

Regular progress assessments will ensure that we stay on track and make adjustments as needed. Flexibility is key, and we will work together to determine the ideal duration of our coaching journey.

If you’re unsure about life coaching and its suitability for your needs, I encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation. This allows us to have an open conversation, clarify your goals, and determine if coaching is the right fit for you. During the consultation, you can ask any questions you have, gain a better understanding of the coaching process, and decide if you feel comfortable and confident working together. It’s essential to find the right coach-client fit, and this initial discussion is an excellent opportunity to explore that possibility without any obligation.
